A wedding is a sacred union between two people who want to spend the rest of their lives together. But it looks like “Love and Hip Hop” stars Mendeecees and Yandy weren’t really clear about what the institution of marriage is really all about. According to a report by MTO, Mendeecees and Yandy Smith-Harris are not married. In fact, they have never been legally married.MTO’s spokesperson got in touch with people close to the show’s production.

But now the big question is why didn’t they get their marriage registered legally?

Many speculations were made that Yandy deliberately decided to keep the name off of the marriage certificate as she wanted to make sure that she stayed away from all the controversies associated with him. According to MTO, “Yandy deliberately kept her name off of the marriage certificate so that their assets would never be joined and any baby mamas to approach Yandy looking for money from Mendeecees while he was in prison would be unable to claim it.”

But looks like there’s more to this story. Many people are now claiming that Yandy was not even willing to marry a man who was going to spend the rest of his life behind bars. They also claimed that she was pressured into getting married for the show and publicity. No matter what the reason was, the news has been confirmed that they are not legally married.

It’s also reported that the couple got paid up to 1 million for their fake marriage episode in 2015. Smith and Mendeecees have been on quite a roller coaster ride for the past couple of months and Yandy’s side of the story seems quite legit.

According to the Inquisitr, “The reason for the marriage fake-out was to keep Mendeecees’ other baby mamas out of Yandy’s money while he’s in prison. Apparently, when someone is incarcerated, at least in some states, the mother, or in this case, mothers of his other children can come after his spouse to collect child support. Obviously, Yandy and Mendeecees wanted to avoid having Samantha or Erika comes after her.”
