She Created ZERO Trash For 5 Days. Here’s How She Did It… January 2, 2018

We have been learning how to reduce waste since grade school, but none of it seems to stick. It’s just easier to be lazy, to toss things into the trash. As a result, we demand more from the earth’s limited resources. Lauren Singer is a young woman who has been on a Zero Waste journey for the past few years. According to United States Environmental Protection Agency, the average person generates 4.3 pounds of waste, or garbage, each day while Singer’s changes have allowed her to fit 3 years of trash into one mason jar. Singer identifies her experience as an Environmental Studies major in college as her main inspiration. She tracks her progress and offers up some advice on her blog [Trash is for Tossers][1]. According to her site, she has not thrown anything away, but recycles and composts. She also shops secondhand and creates her own beauty products whenever eco-friendly ones are not available. **Lucie Fink, known for her “Try Living with Lucie” series with Refinery29, has collaborated with Singer to create the video “5 Days of Zero Trash.” Watch it here to learn how you can change your environmental impact within the next 5 days:** [1]: http://www.trashisfortossers.com/
