Often times when people find success and wealth what follows is a life of opulence. Self-made, millionaire Xiong Shuihua, instead built homes for those that were kind to him and his family when they lived a much humble life in his childhood. While growing up in the village of Xiongkeng in the city of Xinyu, China, Shuihua said that his family was able to get by with the help of neighbors. Shuihua, who has found his wealth in the construction and steel industry, tore down the rundown houses in his village. These houses were replaced with luxury condos for 72 families and former neighbors, rent free. Furthermore, 18 families received their own villas as they stood out with kindness when the tycoon was a child. Additionally, the elderly are provided with daily meals. Shuihua said he “earned more money than I knew what to do with, and I didn’t want to forget my roots. I always pay my debts, and wanted to make sure the people who helped me when I was younger and my family were paid back.”
