The Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Centre in India provides a great service. They rescue elephants that have been previously abused by handlers who gave them beatings to train them, and sometimes even worse. It’s a very cool thing that the centre does but as you can imagine, taking care of the large animals can get a bit tough. Recently the temperatures were predicted to get very low, near freezing, and the workers at the centre had a problem. They needed to keep the elephants warm but they didn’t have any way to do it. Some local villagers came to the rescue and knitted several giant pajama like outfits for the elephants to wear. It wasn’t an easy task to complete but they wanted to help out and as you will see in a few minutes, the elephants were very appreciative. The local ladies knitted socks, a sweater type under garment, a giant blanket to throw over their backs, and some even made pants like materials for them to wear. You’ll see in the photos that the elephants didn’t seem to mind at all and they actually looked a little happy with the new clothing. It’s always a good thing when local people step in to help out those less fortunate. It doesn’t matter if they are human or animals.
