Elena Gibson was moving up in the world of classical dance as a member of the National Ballet of Canada and the Bavarian State Ballet in Germany. In 2000, she suffered serious injuries from a car accident, forcing her to quit what she had trained to do since she was a child. It took her almost a year before she could begin the process of rehabilitation. During this time, she discovered pole-dancing. Gibson admits this new discovery was a total “contrast from the world I had come out off.” She loved the concept of no rules, no wrong and right way of doing things; Gibson felt free. You may never see ballet nor pole-dancing the same way after you watch this video. Gibson is performing to “The Swan” by Camille Saint-Saëns. Her choreography is a fusion of classical ballet, gymnastics, and acrobatics. She now lives in London where she has opened a pole-dancing school.
