Gina Montana was a protagonist character who appeared in the 1983 film, “Scarface”, and although her appearance was small in “Scarface – The World Is Yours”, it was still a key character. In the film, Gina loved her big brother, Tony, played by Al Pacino. Unfortunately, Gina met a horrible death at the hands of a hitman who shot and killed her. On the other hand, the actress that played her, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, is alive and kicking, and she’s been quite busy since her bidding farewell to her Gina character.But the role of Gina certainly had certainly put Mastrantonio on the proverbial Hollywood map. Maybe it was her performance as Tony’s naïve little sister that won us over, or the heart-wrenching scene where Tony cradles Gina’s bullet-ridden body.
She studied at the University of Illinois before making her acting career debut in the 1982 Martin Scorsese film, “The King Of Comedy”, and starring alongside Jerry Lewis and Robert De Niro. Of course, she only played the uncredited role of an extra in the film.
In the film, Gina tries to stay on the straight and narrow, unlike her brother, Tony (Pacino), who tracks her down and gives her a wad of cash to look after their mother.
Well, at the very least, Gina was able to open her own beauty salon with Tony’s generosity, and there’s no doubt that she loved her big brother dearly until her very last breath.
She starred alongside Ed Harris, who demonstrates how important it is to shock someone back to life, but not by using CPR or a defibrillator. Instead he slapped the crap out of her to revive her.
But it wasn’t until the late 80s and early 90s that a string of movies and television appearances cemented her feet in Hollywood.
She also had the distinction of being the nominee for having the longest name ever at the time. Imagine the trouble they would have had if they’d had to engrave her name on the award.
Even at 58, she looks pretty damn amazing. It’s no wonder that she’s still very much in high demand.
Although decades have passed since “Scarface” first appeared on the silver screen, Gina looks tough, beautiful, and overall… fierce.
She wound up marrying director Pat O’Connor in 1990 and they wound up having two children together.
She’s not only beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well. She’s all heart, especially when it comes to being an advocate for children’s charities.
In it, she played the role of FBI Special Agent Nasreen “Naz” Pouran. But unfortunately the series was cancelled in 2016 after only one season.
She was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Carmen in the 1986 film, “The Color Of Money”, which was a movie about Fast Eddie Felson who taught a cocky protégé the tricks of pool hustling. She also starred alongside Hollywood heartthrob, Tom Cruise.
She played Kelly Burkhardt, the presumed long dead mother of Nick, a Grimm, who like his mother could see the true faces of supernatural creatures known as Wessens. Unfortunately, her role came to a shocking end when her TV son, Nick (played by David Giuntoli) finds her decapitated head.
Robin Wright, aka Jenny on “Forrest Gump” was set to play Maid Marian in the film, but she was pregnant. So Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio stepped in and her English accent was great.
In the film, she went head to head with her attorney father, Jedediah Tucker Ward, played by the always impressive Gene Hackman.
She played the mayor’s daughter, who falls for an ex-New York City cop played by Kevin Kline, who sets out to stop a serial killer from terrorizing the city.
The movie was a mystery crime-thriller in which she starred as a suburban housewife to a man who wound up having an affair and alleged accused of murdering his mistress. Mastrantonio’s character, Priscilla Parker, winds up having an affair with the bereaved widower.
She played the role of Anne Cassidy for 9 episodes between season 4 and 5 of the series, which follows the cases of a Missing Persons Unit for the FBI in New York City.
She’s also a renowned cabaret-style singer. In fact, her singing is showcased in the 1999 John Sayles film, “Limbo.”
Instead, she picked the roles she liked and she even took time off to be with her family when she needed to. So it’s safe to say that playing on characters like a fishing boat captain in “The Perfect Storm” suits her personality and overall ageless beauty.
