Every good or bad deed is noticed by a higher power. Doing the right thing when no one is watching means you are a kind, loving soul. This is true among the animal kingdom as well. Cats, dogs, and other animals show a side of humanity most people lack.Over the years, she had rescued and saved a number of cats but there was something special about this one. She couldn’t help but take Benedict Cumbercat. “The moment I saw his scrawny hot mess of a body, I wanted him,” Carozza admits. “I fell in love even with the snotty nose and his horrible eye infection. I knew he was supposed to be mine.”

“Benny makes friends very easily with every kitten he comes across, it is a daily occurrence and very routine, Carozza says. “Cats LOVE routine, and if you involve them in a routine, most cats will adapt with no problem. This means Benny is an honorary hospital employee. He fosters two to five kittens at a time and at his best he has taken care of 12 kittens.

“There is something more that a surrogate cat can give to a kitten vs. a human. They connect better, can communicate in their own way, and be provided with cat to cat comfort,” Cardozza explains Benny’s important role.

When he was taken in, Benny suffered from a severe upper respiratory infection along with conjunctivitis, and diarrhea. She nursed him back to life and she believes that now Benny is doing the same for other kitties.

Benny knows he needs to be gentler with the neonates. He loves grooming the kittens but doesn’t mean he won’t discipline when they are misbehaving.
