A common misconception is that horses don’t lie down to sleep. In fact, I’ve even heard some people surmise that horses don’t sleep at all, but instead stand in their stalls and stay awake all night long, munching on hay. Of course, this is totally inaccurate: Horses not only sleep, but they also lie down to do so. In fact, if a horse isn’t lying down, it probably isn’t sleeping.
