This Couple Spent 26 Years Replanting A Rainforest, The Results Are Breathtaking. June 8, 2019

Pamela Malhotra and husband Dr. Anil Malhotra are two amazing people. Nearly twenty years ago, they purchased 55 acres of some old abandoned land in southern India. The barren land was distressed from years of being used as farmland and lacked wildlife. The couple wanted create a private wildlife sanctuary where the animals could be protected. It took quite a long time, but they achieved their goal. The area is now filled with wildlife and lush vegetation. The Malhotras say that their goal was reached to the fullest they ever imagined, but that doesn’t stop them from looking for further improvements to make. It’s all about the animals for the couple who spent their lives providing a beautiful place for them.It once was nothing more than 55 acres of old cardamom and coffee fields. The area in India’s Southern Ghats is known for that.

When the couple purchased the land, it was pretty much dead. The area was devoid of any wildlife.

The couple put 26 years of work into it. They nursed the land back to life and turned it into the beautiful area that it is now.

The couple replanted a variety of indigenous trees and plants all by themselves. Eventually, the area came back to life.

The Malhotras put in all of the hard work. Their dedication turned the area into a lush forest for animals to enjoy.

As you can see, the area is now filled with all kinds of wildlife. The sanctuary is home to leopards, river otters, Bengal tigers, Asian elephants, and civet cats.

The Malhotra’s land became India’s first private wildlife sanctuary. They call it SAI Sanctuary.

Everyone thought they were crazy when they started the project so many years ago. However, now their dream is complete, just how they envisioned it to be.

Pamela said when they first started coming to the grounds it was very quiet. She said all you could hear was your own footsteps. Now, it has come alive with the sounds of an active wildlife and she enjoys every moment of it.

**Take a few minutes to go along with them on their journey through the SAI Sanctuary. You’ll see a beautiful transformation.**
