[Yolandi Jacobsz][1] turned an otherwise disappointing situation into an opportunity to express her creativity. The South African photographer did not receive her visa in time for her planned trip to the US, leaving her nowhere to go with a brand new camera gifted by Fuji. Instead of dwelling in disappointment, Jacobsz decided to transform herself. Jacobsz spent three hours every evening changing herself into women she grew up admiring. The talented shutterbug did her own make up and hair. After two weeks, with her new camera, she had 15 portraits of diverse females from Frida Kahlo and Amy Winehouse to Whoopi Goldberg. She made sure she captured not only the look but the mannerism and era as well. Her goal was not to only imitate the icons, but rather pay tribute to them.
