Sometimes, we hear about a love story that is so true and so pure that we can’t help but tear up. The story of Buddy and Betty Caldwell is one of those stories. Before you read their tale and look at the photos, be sure to grab a tissue (and maybe someone to hug).
This picture was taken before they were married.
This is Betty looking radiant on their wedding day.
Unfortunately, Betty isn’t with him.
Buddy had this plaque made and put on a park bench to honor Betty’s memory.
He visits the bench every day, rain or shine.
Each day. Buddy brings Betty a single daisy and a single penny. He leaves these tokens of love because the couple’s favorite songs were “Pennies From Heaven” and “A Daisy a Day.”
Buddy couldn’t walk the path to Betty’s bench because there was too much snow on the ground. Defeated, he went back to his car and talked to Betty from there.
Jerrod Ebert and Kevin Schultz got shovels and cleared the path for Bud.
“We have to make sure he can get to his bench and talk to his wife,” said Ebert.
And you can be certain that he’ll leave a daisy and a penny behind.
