Those who work in education face daily challenges that many of us will never know, even as parents. In America in particular, teachers are underpaid and under respected. Another big issue is shortages. There aren’t enough qualified people interested in becoming teachers. For example, 49 states have a shortage of special education teachers, according to a report published by the U.S. Department of Education in March 2011. Some of the unique challenges teachers may face during their career include unmanageable caseloads, professional isolation, a lack of funding, and limited supplies. Despite these problems, the people who commit their lives to building future generations do so because it is rewarding to them. They find purpose in it. Kinsey French is one of those people. French works as a special education teacher at Christian Academy Rock Creek in Kentucky. The young teacher was recently married, and she invited her class, a small group of six students, to be part of the ceremony.
