Kathryn Thompson is a grandmother in North Carolina. She works the late shift at Elon University, where she toils away in the campus cafeteria. One day, two students struck up a conversation with Kathryn: They learned about her family, her interests, and her life. Then, the students did something amazing. They decided that they would ask the student body to come together and raise money for Kathryn. Their efforts raised over $7,000, and what they decided to do with the money is totally awesome.
