These Seniors Have Tattoos That Are Cooler Than Yours. September 26, 2020

The next time someone says you’re going to hate your tattoos when you grow older, show them this project. “TattooAge. Never too old” is an incredible project that features 25 fully-tatted senior citizens and the stories behind their tattoos. They’ll be on the road all through the Netherlands from September 20, so if you’re in that area, make sure to catch a glimpse. Behind every tattoo, there’s a beautiful story waiting to be told. From the gift of a grandchild getting immortalized in ink, to the eternal memory of a loved one, this project covers it all. This man has decorated his body from head to toe. Some of them may have faded a bit across the years, but the meaning attached to each tat is still vivid in his heart.

Perhaps, Chris’ chest tattoo was seen as a sign of rebellion, but today, it’s nothing but a beautiful work of art.

He’s wearing an armor of ink, art and memories all over his skin and he’s not afraid to share it with the world.

If you do, then show them this pic. Albertina is sitting in her living room, hiding a pretty rad secret: she actually has a tattoo. She got her first tattoo in 2017, and it was a gift from her grandchildren when they went on a trip to Amsterdam.

He’s wearing his heart on his sleeve, or rather, his memories on his arm with this beautiful tattoo that probably has a secret hidden meaning.

Riek probably has a story for every tattoo that’s hiding underneath her clothes. Whether they’re related to her own experiences or lessons, each story and memory has been immortalized in ink, and they look banging!

Many folks think tattoos are something you get when you’re younger, but you never know what experiences and life lessons have caused a few senior citizens to get tatted, even at their age.

Asides from showing the everlasting beauty of tattoos, the project hopes to tell the stories behind each individual that opened up and allowed themselves to get photographed, such as Thomas, who doesn’t even notice he’s covered in tattoos anymore, as he’s had them for over 10 years.

So many people wonder how tattoos will fade or look with time, but for some of these folks, it’s not about the way they look. It’s about immortalizing a memory and carrying it close to their bodies.

She’s proudly sporting a tattoo with a quote that clearly means something to her. A duo of flowers seem to decorate the rest of her arm, and she’s also added two more tats to her other arm as well. Clearly, she’s not afraid of needles.

He believes his tattoos are an expression of him, and they’re his and his alone, and no one can take that away from him. He wanted his whole body covered, and he hasn’t stopped getting tatted, as the last time he got one was in 2018.
