What comes to mind when you think of a police dog? Usually, they’re broad and muscular German shepherds that go through an intense amount of scent and agility training. They’re very well-behaved (and usually quite sweet), but the look of them is enough to make you nervous, even if you haven’t done anything wrong. Spot is not that kind of dog. Though he might look different than the burly canines you’re used to seeing on the force, it turns out that Spot is just as important to his squad as the next mutt. Check out the gifs below to learn more about Spot, and why he just might be the toughest pup at the poundHis fellow officers sometime call him Spoticus.
That badge makes him look so tough.
But that doesn’t mean he’s just a typical laptop.
Stop right there!
Maybe the perps will all be too mesmerized to commit crimes?
“One day one of the detectives was having a really bad day after a really bad call,” said Stephanie Gonzales, who works in police records. “All of a sudden, Spot ran up to him and was so excited to see him and from that point on, it was a big morale booster and we needed to keep him around.”
So much so, in fact, that they get sad when he takes a sick day.
Even if he’s napping, at least he’s still close by.
