Celebrities walk a fine line. For the ones who passionately fight the right to keep everything in their private live’s private, they are often accused of being aloof and standoffish. While the celebs who have no problem talking about their lives, even showing a kiss, and cuddle here and they are criticized of using their romantic relationships as a way to promote themselves. The latest couple who is feeling the backlash from fans is Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. It may be that no one saw this unusual coupling lasting more than a couple of months or it could be that their love is just too sweet and syrupy for folks to digest, specially on night time TV.She joined the cast consisting of Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Pharrell Williams. Blake Shelton was married to country singer Miranda Lambert and Stefani was married to Brit rockstar Gavin Rossdale.
Stefani filed for divorced after a 13-year-marriage after reports surfaced that her husband was having an affair with the nanny. While Shelton called it quits after 10 years with together with Lambert.
“This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter,” their statement read.
“We were all mic-ed up and everything, and Blake’s like, ‘I gotta talk to you guys.’ And he basically made his announcement. I think I might have went white and like shook. I was in shock, because it felt like he was exposing me,” she told Howard Stern during an interview.
“While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,” their statement read. “To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time.”
But it was photos captured of the singers cuddling and holding hands during Adam Levine’s Halloween concert with Maroon 5.
Stefani appeared “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” on November 3, 2015 when the radio host asked her if she was dating the country superstar.
“I think he’s hot, don’t you?” she teased Seacrest.
During the Howard Stern interview, Stefani revealed that it was after Shelton told the singers he was going divorcing Lambert that they really started to bond.
“Then we just started this friendship, which was just unbelievable that God would put us in a position to have each other at that moment, in the same exact moment,” she said. “His thing had been going on since January, mine since February.”
“I was just trying to not die. There was no plan,” she said.
“It was crazy to be able to also musically know somebody in such a different genre of music,” Stefani explained. “He ended up writing a song that he sent to me, and I wrote back to him on that song, so we actually got to write a song together.”
“My marriage fell apart,” Shelton told Chelsea Handler last year. “To find out she’s going through the exact same thing at the same time … All this has to be meant to happen.”
“No question about that. Absolutely no question,” he replied.
“But it was like being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing at the exact same time,” she reasoned.
“He is the most incredible guy. Everybody loves Blake, and that’s the thing. There’s no way around it. He’s just a sparkly like happy, amazing person,” she gushed.
In fact, she said she didn’t even know who Blake Shelton was. Things are different now.
They seem to be the proof that opposites attract. Shelton loves to hunt while Stefani is an animal rights advocate. He lives in Nashville, she lives in Los Angeles. He’s country, she’s pop.
During her speech she thanked Shelton by saying “Thank you for kissing me back to life.”
This is spilling over in to the singing competition where the focus seems to have been directed at the love birds.
After 18-year-old contestant Chris Blue sang, Stefani complimented him. “Chris, you let yourself completely get absorbed into the music, almost as an out-of-body experience,” she told the singer. “I don’t even know if I was listening to your voice because I was so mesmerized by your body!”
Shelton acted upset, looking at Blue asking “What’s your problem, man?”
The disappointment falls on the show’s focus on the relationship rather the aspiring singers.
Lisa Mayo-Smith, a former fan of the show says she is tired “how they (show) kept reminding everyone that Blake and Gwen were dating. Don’t think I’ll watch the rest of the season,” she wrote.
“I love The Voice, and don’t get me wrong, I have zero problem with Blake and Gwen being together,” Brandi Castle posted online. “I do, however, hate the fact they make the show all about their relationship and not the talent!!! It is called The Voice, not the Blake and Gwen Show!”
