If you call yourself a lover of winter, then you need to visit the [Icehotel][1] in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden. The frosty lodging is built with 1,000 tons of ice collected from the Torne River and an additional 30,000 tons of ‘snice,’ a mixture of snow and ice used to ‘glue’ the structures. Each year approximately 100 people rebuilt the hotel which melts during the summer months. Approximately half of those involved are artists from around the world bringing their vision of design to life. The hotel is open from December to mid-April, which is when everything will begin to melt. Visitors will enjoy the northern lights, wilderness and are merely 200 km north from the Arctic Circle. Jukkasjärvi is a village of 1,100 people with an almost equal number dogs. In its 25th year running, the hotel has 60 rooms available for those that want to venture in the deep freezing temperatures.
