Looking for some real estate? There’s an entire town for sale, Johnsonville, Connecticut. It’s up for grabs today to the highest bidder by [Auction.com](http://www.auction.com/Connecticut/commercial-auction-asset/193019417-15703-Village-Of-Johnsonville-MOODUS-CT-06469-B846). The bid will start at $800,000. The property is an assemblage of 8 parcels of land totaling 62 acres and includes a general store, a chapel, a stable, an old mill, a one-room schoolhouse, a mansion, a tavern, and a covered bridge.

The town has been vacant for 20 years and throughout its history it’s been abandoned three times. Back in the 1830’s, Johnsonville was a thriving mill town. People lived there until the 50’s. When work dried up because of modernization, people moved and Johnsonville became a ghost town.

A millionaire named Ray Schmitt bought the town in the the 60’s with a vision to turn it into a theme park. He had disputes with local officials and the idea never took off. The town was abandoned after Schmitt’s death in 1988.

Tens years later, a hotel developer bought the town in 2008, but nothing ever came of it. In 2013, Johnsonville was back on the market again with a price tag of $2.9 million, and it never sold.
