In Yucatan, Mexico, Margarita Suarez was well known in her community for the kindness she bestowed upon all the local animals. Each day, Suarez fed at least 20 neighborhood cats, and she never let a dog pass her by without attempting to feed it. Suarez is pictured here on the left.
Unfortunately, earlier this month, Suarez passed away. Her daughter planned her funeral, expecting to see many of the community members that Suarez touched throughout her life. Then, something amazing happened.
In addition to all local friends and family, Suarez’s funeral was attended by many of the animals that she has helped over the years.
Her daughter Patricia posted about this miraculous occurrence on her Facebook. Here is what she said, translated from its original Spanish: “It’s very painful to tell you that my mother has passed away. Thanks to everyone who prayed for her health. I’ll share photos of the saddest day of my life, only because something marvelous happened that I want to share. My mother was an animal lover – she couldn’t come across any without giving them a little bit of food…”
“…Upon arrival at her wake, out of nowhere a group of dogs came into the salon and stayed there all night as if on guard. This morning they left and couldn’t be found anywhere, but one hour before we brought my mom out the dogs came back and grouped around as if to say goodbye. I swear by God that it was beautiful, marvelous.”
