For most of us, cartoons are as synonymous with our childhoods as peanut butter sandwiches and the insatiable desire to play in the mud as soon as mom bought us new sneakers. They were a part of our after school and Saturday morning routines, and nothing could have been better. But what if our beloved 2D characters could be reimagined in 3D? Now, technology allows creators to make basically *everything* in 3D — even if it was first rendered at as hand-drawn, 2D illustration. In other words, they can transform Mickey Mouse, Homer Simpson, and Spongebob into 3D characters, just like that. The results are cool, but they’re also a little bit creepy for comfort — Patrick from Spongebob will haunt your dreams.
