It’s a tradition that has remained unchanged for hundreds of years: harvesting red honey. The Gurung men of Nepal begin their journey up the Himalayan mountains with prayers and offer fruit, flowers, and rice to the gods. This is to bless the journey they are to embark upon, climbing high up the mountain with only rope ladders and bamboo poles. The honey is found in the nests of the Apis Laboriosa bees located between 8,000 and 9,800 feet up the mountain. Take a look at the ancient art of honey hunting.
