Crammed to the gills on a recent flight, I took a look around and wondered how it had come to this. Flying in 2015 has become expensive and uncomfortable, and it seems like every year the prices go up while the perks go down. Flying didn’t used to be like this, right? Forty years ago, it was a dignified and glamorous experience… or at least that’s what we’ve been told. Well, after a group of 1970s flight photos surfaced on Reddit, it turns out that the posh nature of flying in previous decades might be somewhat of a stretch. In fact, some Redditors argued that the images were actually “concept photos,” meaning that they were used to illustrate how flying *could* be, instead of how it actually *was*.
