It’s true that your average household cat would rather do anything than be fully submerged in water. However, in the wild, jaguars depend on swimming to survive. In order to cross the varying and often water-logged landscapes of the Amazon Rainforest, jaguars are required to be strong swimmers. In fact, jaguars are some of the only felines who swim regularly (though tigers do it, too). This gorgeous black jaguar was spotted in the water in one of the Amazon Region Protected Areas, which is 150 million acres of land that will is protected in perpetuity. Watching this amazing footage is a great reminder of how important is it to protect our rapidly diminishing wildlife. Watch to the end to see the black jaguar in all of it’s glory!
