Do-it-yourself projects are fun things to do that can make your home a better place to live while saving yourself a ton of money. When contractors come in and do the job for you, you just never know what kind of work you’ll get out of them. Some of them are top notch and are very good but others are only there for the paycheck and don’t really care about the work. That paycheck can also break the bank for you because there are too many people out there that overcharge for their services. However, even the ones that have reasonable rates can break your bank. Doing it yourself will guarantee that the care goes into the project that you desire. Nobody will care about your project as much as you do. The amount of money that you can save by purchasing the materials yourself is absolutely amazing. There is no third or fourth party marking them up even higher on you. Here you will see a kitchen that was completely redone in two weeks at the total cost of right around $2,000. You will be hard pressed to find this kind of work done by an outside party at that price!The kitchen wasn’t all that bad to begin with but a change was needed.
The area around the fridge was redone to make things more accessible. It wasn’t easy work but well worth it when all was said and done.
Adding trim to the cabinets wasn’t very expensive at all. Lowes had the nails and trim for around a hundred dollars.
What was a nice kitchen is halfway there to being an even better one.
Using oil based primer takes a long time. Only one coat per day can be done because of the long drying time. It’s worth it at the end though because cleaning is much easier.
Choose your colors carefully ahead of time. They had doubts about the color once the paint was applied but it was too late for a change at that point.
You can see the positive results coming every few hours. If you want to save a lot of money, doing it yourself is always the way to go. If you possess those talents!
Everything is now ready to be finished off. It takes time and dedication but the finished product makes it worth the effort.
It looked good when it was done but it wasn’t good enough. A new sink and counter tops had to be added in to create the perfect kitchen.
The end result of the counter tops is amazing but the amount of work it takes is unbelievable. It took an entire day just to cut the pieces perfectly.
The clamps don’t always get everything tight enough for perfection. A lot of glue was needed to fill gaps and then several hours of sanding was done to create the beautiful finish.
Cutting a two inch piece of wood is not always easy. You’ll need a good blade and a belt sander to get the shape just right.
A good mineral oil and butcher block wax will give you the beautiful finish that you want. You can find exactly what you need at Lowes for around twenty bucks.
The backsplash ran about $150 at Lowes but it’s a very time consuming and frustrating project. Don’t forget to cover up the counter tops or all the hard work done on them can be ruined quickly.
Look at that! A beautiful sight to see each morning.
This cut was found for around 300 bucks in the back of a local shop. If you take your time and shop around you’ll find there are good deals that can be found on what is usually pretty expensive granite.

Two weeks and $2,000 can get you this. You have to admit that it looks fantastic!
