In his series called *Hipstory*, artist and designer Amit Shimoni imagined what some of the world’s most iconic leaders would look like if they were modern day hipsters. The subjects that we are accustomed to seeing conservative and clean shaven with suits and ties were given a new urban look outfitted in colorful hip clothing, earrings, necklaces, and new hairstyles. In each portrait, Shimoni included elements that reflect something about each leader. Gandhi is depicted in a peaceful way wearing a tie-die shirt and sixties-styled shades. John F. Kennedy is shown sporting a nose ring, a mustache with goatee, gold chains, and t-shirt with a black and white image of Marilyn Monroe.
