If you love avocados, then you’re not alone. We can make salads out of them, turn them into guacamole, or even fill them up with eggs. They’re just all-around awesome! Strangely enough, humans aren’t the only ones who think avocados rock. A border collie dog named Diller, who’s as cute as he can be, is more than just a good boy. He’s helping bring more avocados to the world! In a way, it’s almost as if he knows that the whole world is obsessed with avocados, and he’s lending a helping paw. Dozens of avocado trees are growing throughout the state of California, and you can thank this pooch for his amazing work. But the question is, how does he do it?This cute dog’s mother was a rescue dog, and when he was just a puppy, both he and his family were moved to Southern California to live in a horse ranch. The property was so big that Diller and his family had a ton of room to play around.

But the property also provided the dog with something that was quite tasty, and it didn’t really take that long for Diller to figure out what it was. According to Robert Moser, Diller’s human owner, it all began near an old orchard.

The trees were located a couple of hundred feet from the main house in an old orchard. From that point on, Diller had fallen head over heels in love with the avocados that were produced by the trees. But who wouldn’t love that soft, green treat?

The pooch found the taste of these avocados too exquisite. Contrary to popular belief, avocados are not toxic to dogs, which is great news for Diller, because his owner couldn’t pry him away from the avocados. Even if he tried!

At first, he didn’t know what was going on or how those polished pits had gotten there. Then he saw Diller walking in with yet another pit and this time, the pooch placed it inside his owner’s shoe before wagging its tail.

It turns out that this gave Moser a great idea. In the past, he had tried planting avocado pits in the hopes of growing trees of his own, but that never worked out. Suddenly, he felt inspired to try again. But he had to make sure that the pit wasn’t damaged or contained skin on it, which would have made it rot.

Now, every time Diller brings him a new seed to plant, he gets praised and patted by Moser. Then the seed gets planted to create a new tree. Eventually all the trees provided so many avocados that Moser started gifting them to his loved ones and trading with nearby farmers.

“Once people started realizing I had more seeds than normal to give away, I told them the story of how I got them, and we shared a good laugh,” said Moser. Now he makes sure to provide each person with a photo of Diller, every time he gives them an avocado pit, so they’ll know who they have to thank for their tasty tree.
