The Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia is celebrating the birth of a very bright monkey. Nangua is a fiery orange François’ langur, one of the rarest in the monkey species. The keepers found Nangua, meaning pumpkin in Mandarin, cuddled up to his mother Meili on November 7. The baby’s hair will eventually darken to black as he matures. This is the fourth langur born in the zoo. It’s estimated there are only 800 of the endangered species left in the wild. Nangua is not lacking being cradled and cared for, the langurs practice allomothering: females taking turns caring for the infant.
