Everyone deserves a second chance; for one starling who was found by a good samaritan, Susan Hickman, a second chance meant its survival. A baby bird named Klinger was found on the ground still encased in its partially broken egg shell when Hickman spotted it. The very tiny bird would not have survived; either the weather or a nearby house-cat would have been his demise.
Experts on the topic also encouraged Hickman to leave the passerine alone. However, Klinger was taken home, put in an improvised incubator, and fed around the clock until signs of strength began to show.
