Somerset Island in Nunavut, Canada, is a hidden gem. As part of the arctic archipelago, this uninhabited paradise is home to some of the most beautiful wildlife in the north. Every year, thousands of beluga whales congregate in this remote region. Polar bears, snowy owls, arctic foxes, and musk oxen among others, call this area home. Photographer Nansen Weber shot a video that provides a glimpse at the stunning landscape and its animals. Weber is the first person to do it using a drone. Although, the task was not easy. Most drones cannot fully function in the harsh cold temperatures and strong winds; it took many tries to get this video as the drones kept crashing. The 24-year-old hopes the short film will make people appreciate the wildlife in this part of the world. “It’s something that we should look into and hopefully save, because it might not be there in the future,” says Weber.
