Even if you’re going into the store “for just a minute” and leave the windows cracked, a dog can suffer from heat exhaustion in a matter of minutes. A user on Reddit recently did an experiment and left an egg inside his parked car on a hot day. In just 15 minutes, the egg was cooked! Imagine what could happen to a dog in 15 minutes?They left an egg in a pan inside a parked car to see what would happen to it.

Even if the owner left for “just a minute” to run an errand, leaving a dog inside a parked car can cause severe damage on a hot day.
A dog could experience a sudden heatstroke in just 15 minutes.
It’s practically cooked and ready to consume! Imagine what 15 minutes would do to a poor dog?
And parked cars can easily become a deathtrap for dogs.
Even on a cloudy day that may not seem that hot to you, it could be a deathly risk for your dog. And cracking the windows won’t make a difference!
“On a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 100 and 120 degrees in just minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes.”
All they can do is pant and sweat through their paw pads.
Nonetheless, neglect or poor judgement calls still happen — sometimes even among trained professionals.
It doesn’t have to be scorching hot outside for a dog to suffer from heat exhaustion.
If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it will be too hot for your dog! This is also useful when deciding whether or not you should take your dog for a walk on a hot day.
That’s hot enough to cause burns, permanent damage or even scarring after just one minute of contact.
We need to spread the knowledge to others and act if we do see an animal left alone in an unattended vehicle on a hot day.
Simply take down the car’s color, make, model and license plate number and have the owner paged in the nearest buildings. In the worst case scenario, you can call local humane authorities.
