It’s not every day that a restaurant gets a chance at a Michelin star, a la famed restaurants like New York’s Le Bernardin and Jean-Georges. The fanciest restaurants are always in competition for the ranking, but it’s definitely not usually in the cards for a restaurant where the average meal costs about $1.50. The place belongs to chefs Chan Hon Meng and Tang Chay Seng. It’s located in Singapore, a 35-year-old Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle food stall located in the city’s Chinatown Complex.

The video below shows you what it’s like to be awarded a ranking like this for a restaurant of this kind, and shows the chef from behind the stall counter, all the way until the moment he realizes he got the nomination. If you’re a foodie, this will definitely make you smile.
