Vince Reffet and Fred Fugen set a new Guinness World Record by BASE jumping from above the pinnacle of the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, in Dubai. The jump was only possible because of the construction of 3 x 1 m platform at the very top of the pinnacle. The two men took the 828 meter (2716 feet) leap last Monday. To prepare for this base jump, Fugen and Reffet jumped off the Lauterbeunnen Mountain in Switzerland several times, which is almost the same height as Burj Khalifa. Then they followed it by jumping out of helicopters in Dubai to ensure their readiness for the leap from Burj Khalifa. “This was the jump of a lifetime and an achievement of three years of hard training. I am glad we landed successfully, accomplishing a lifelong dream,” Fugen said. Reffet added: “This was my best jump by far. It was a dream come true.”
