Don’t be alarmed if you see a tiki bar floating by a river or waterfront, it didn’t get there accidentally. Greg Darby needed to purchase a small boat after his was stolen but he was also planning to set up a tiki in his backyard. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida resident didn’t need to choose one over the other. The electrical engineer designed and built his own floating tiki bar with a motor. His creation was so popular Darby has switched careers; building the Cruisin’ Tiki. He has clients in Florida, Canada, Georgia, and Mexico. For the new businessman, the floating tiki provides freedom, “just figure out where you want to go, then turn the key and go,” says Darby.
