Santi Serra trains his horses for his acrobatic and playful equestrian shows when he feels they are ready. He usually waits until the yearlings are at least two years old, spending as much time as possible with them. The horseman trains with them about ten hours a day. Not much changes when he is off. “When I have free time I like to do promenades with my horses on the beach or sleep with them in their stables,” explains Serra. The trust and complete vulnerability between Serra and his horses is evident in their performances. Serra does not use force with them. Instead, the 27-year-old admits to simply speaking to his animals, thus creating harmony. “It is an instinctive relationship that arises from complicity, by mutual trust. The sensitivity, the feeling, this is something you can’t teach, they are part of us, they are natural and instinctive,” says Serra.
