Even when you’re more than qualified, it’s tough to secure a job. Last year, the average time it took to secure a job was 43 days, according to *Time*. This number is only an average as it varies by industry and job level. I’ve personally known some people that have searched anywhere from 6 months to a year. Some people have been fortunate enough to get a job quickly through the right connections, timing, or pure talent and cleverness. Today we have a story about a man who was supposedly hired to work McDonald’s on the spot because of his hilarious and honest application. There may be a stigma to working at McDonald’s and at fast food restaurants, but that doesn’t mean that hiring managers hire just anyone. Did you know that there are a handful of celebrities that worked at McDonald’s before striking stardom? This list includes James Franco, Rachel McAdams, and Shania Twain. Franco actually wrote an article titled ‘McDonald’s was there for me when no one else was’ for *The Washington Post*. With that in mind, continue reading for the successful application.Founded in 1940, McDonald’s is the most famous fast food restaurant in the world and a 2012 BBC report identified it as the world’s second largest private employer (the first was Walmart). At the time of the report, McDonald’s had around 1.9 million employees. Recently, there have been controversies surrounding the company’s hesitation to move to a $15 minimum wage (they argue that it threatens entry-level jobs and that it would be cheaper to hire a robot), but the fact is that millions of people still rely on the establishment for work.

According to Snopes, the piece is a satire produced by writer Greg Bulmash for his Internet humor column in 1997. The piece has since circulated the web.
