People always have the desire to acquire new skills. I mean who wouldn’t? An extra skill in your pocket never hurts and may one day be very useful. However, most people tend to assume that skills can only be gained naturally – that skilled people are plainly born with those skills. These people were either terribly misguided or just lazy. Obtaining a skill that you didn’t already have is achievable; it just takes work. You need to put in time and effort, just like the guy in this video, Mike Boyd. Mike Boyd strongly believes in the 10 thousand hour rule, the rule that claims in order to become a world class expert in ***any*** skill, all you need is 10 thousand hours of good practice. Mike chose the skill of skateboarding, but instead of learning it entirely, he just wanted to learn the simplest trick in skateboarding: a kickflip. It only took him 5 hours and 47 minutes and mind you, he doesn’t have any skateboarding experience at all.
