John Helinski felt invisible. Homeless for the past three years after his identity was stolen, Helinski was unable to get back on his feet; he technically did not exist. Shelter case worker Charles Inman and police officer Dan McDonald were determined help Helinski get his identity and life back. Born in Poland, Helinski had to first obtain his birth certificate. From there, he was able to get a driver’s license and his Social Security card. What they were able to find afterwards left everyone stunned. Helinski had a forgotten bank account that had been receiving his benefit payments for years. With his life back, Helinski no longer feels invisible.
