This Ingenious Squirrel Has Trained His Human Perfectly… And His Human Doesn’t Mind.

When we hear the phrase “man’s best friend,” we usually think of canine companions. Roger Durre’s best friend is a little bit different. Instead of spending his days with a goofy golden retriever, Durre decided to take a more a more woodland inspired approach to his menagerie: He trained a squirrel to run up to him, sit on his shoulder, and eat snacks right out of his hand! As if that wasn’t cute enough, Durre named his pet squirrel Peanut (awww). Durre operates a licensed rehabilitation center from his home, and over the past five years, he has cared for and trained over 20 squirrels. Most of them find their way back to their homes in the wild, but Peanut is the only squirrel who keeps coming back to say hello. Watching the video, it’s easy to see why Peanut loves his “dad” too much to think about leaving home!
