Japanese art, culture, and design is known for adhering to particular rules of order and process, so it makes sense that the country’s most highly-attended events would be, too. The footage below was taken from Comiket, the world’s largest self-publishing comic book fair that’s held twice a year in Tokyo. Over 5,000 people attend Comiket, and organizers use very specific crowd control tactics to keep everything calm and organized. The time lapse video below shows exactly how those crowds were controlled — and seeing it happen in this fashion is absolutely mind-boggling. Compiled from photographs taken at five second intervals between 1:30 AM and 2:30 PM, the entire process of comic book fans entering the convention in droves is documented here, and they look incredibly tidy while they do it.
