Before proceeding, please note that this video is not for the impatient. It is for those people who admire detail and would like to incorporate a few special touches to their gift wrapping this holiday season. If you are familiar with Japanese culture, you know that the packaging is just as important as the gift itself, perhaps even more. At almost every major train station in Japan, you will find perfectly wrapped *omiyage*, or souvenirs. You can also spot them in grocery stores and convenience stores, among many other places, or request gift wrapping service at a department store. In America, we are big on efficiency while the Japanese are big on precision, even if it takes more time and effort. In this video by Rouge Shop, you will be introduced to a different way of wrapping that focuses on beauty and exactness. My favorite part is the use of the *furoshiki*, or traditional wrapping cloth, a gorgeous and reusable item.
