King penguins may be known for being great swimmers, diving as deep as 1,000ft with no effort. For one penguin named Charlotte, getting her feet wet was not on her list of priorities. Born in [Birdland Park and Gardens][1] in Gloucestershire, England, Charlotte hung out with other penguins but when it came to getting in the water, she would go as far as dipping her toe in the pool but that was basically it. Head keeper Alastair Keen hand-reared Charlotte, so it became his job to teach the hesitant bird to swim. Keen got in the water with Charlotte and almost instantly her instinct to swim kicked in. Now, you can’t tell her apart from the other tuxedoed swimmers. [1]: http://www.birdland.co.uk/
