August 5, 2014 will mark one hundred years since the first day of Britain’s involvement in the First World War. Ceramic artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper will unveil an evolving art installation this week. Volunteers began placing the red ceramic poppies around the dry moat at the Tower of London weeks ago. There will be a total of 888,246 poppies to represent each of British soldiers who lost their lives. A final poppy will be symbolically added on November 11th to commemorate the end of WWI or Armistice Day.
