[Stan Herd][1] relies on nature to make his artwork come alive. Herd uses open fields and transforms them into masterpieces by digging, planting, mowing, and even laying rocks and mulch. His latest project involved bringing Vincent van Gogh’s 1889 piece “Olive Trees” to a much larger scale. The 1.2 acre interpretation was commissioned by the [Minneapolis Institute of Art][2] for its centennial celebration. The museum has the original oil painting by Van Gogh. It has taken the American crop artist months to complete the job which can be best viewed by air when flying by the Minneapolis airport.
