Back in 2003, [Matthew Hoffman](http://you-are-beautiful.com/) wanted to create a positive message that he could share with everyone and that they could pass on to others. He created stickers that read “you are beautiful” then he made a single page website where people could request their own stickers by mail. The first batch of 100 stickers made it all the way to China. People began posting the stickers in different places and would send him photos from all over the world. “Someone sent a photo of a sticker that they put on the edge of a bridge where a friend had committed suicide a year ago, to sort of be there for the next person that’s thinking about that,” he says. “I don’t know if I had really taken into account the magnitude that the simple message could have. At that moment, it really blew me away.” 11 years ago Matthew had no idea what kind of impact this project would make. He’s currently working on a book about the project and his art exhibit “You Are Beautiful” was at Chicago’s Green Exchange last year. His story was also featured on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday.
