Residents in Poole, Dorset get to drive through the coolest bascule bridge in the world. The Twin Sails Bridge has two opposing triangles lying horizontally to be used as the passing road for commuters, connecting Poole to Hamworthy, England. When the bridge leaves open up, they resemble the stunning and breathtaking structure of two giant yacht sails. It’s hard to believe it took almost three decades for construction to finally begin in 2011. It cost £18.5 million or over $26 million to build what looks more like a massive sculpture. The leaves are powered by hydraulic rams.
