Today is Veteran’s Day, and to commemorate the day, we’re reminded of the group of formerly homeless veterans that performed on America’s Got Talent in 2010. Their performance reminded people of the power of music to heal — and to let other veterans know that it’s okay to reach out for help when you return from active duty. Their performance is compelling, especially when considering their back story. The group found each other at New Directions, a facility that helps homeless veterans find jobs, housing, and get back on their feet. You can feel the unity of their shared experience through their music, and it’s enough to bring a tear to your eye.
