In this day in age, it seems like police officers are being thrown more negative attention than positive. And when you look at the headlines, it’s pretty obvious why. But it’s important to remember that there are plenty of police officers out there that have good hearts and truly want to protect their community. This may look like a regular selfie, but there’s an important story behind it.
They have been called names, threatened, and even attacked. Unfortunately, the actions of a small percentage of police officers is affecting the entire police force as a whole.
Considering the state of things, you can’t really blame them for feeling scared. And it must not feel very good for everyone to be mad at you or afraid of you, even though you’re one of the good ones.
Instead of serving themselves some turkey, they felt it was more important for them to be serving their community. They understood that sacrificing time with their family was their duty as police officers.
Even though they were missing time with their loved ones, they couldn’t help but be happy. They continued their day, and had a great photo to remember it by.
Along with the photo was a very special message. “All you may see in this photo is two smiling police officers. But there is more,” she began.
We are husband and wife, parents to four beautiful girls, we are a son and a daughter, a brother and sister, a grandson and granddaughter, a niece and nephew. (Steven is also an army veteran). We are friends to many,” she explained.
“Before you say hateful things and put all officers in a category….remember we are all individuals attached to a delicate thin blue line,” she said. “We are attacked daily and getting killed just for putting on a badge. You voice your opinion, and rally against law enforcement over tickets!! We are risking our lives.”
The post was receiving a lot of criticism, but it was also receiving a lot of love. People from all over were expressing their gratitude for Brittany and Steven.
“Thank you all for your support for our law enforcement officers. The post was from my heart and I am humbled by all the gratitude,” she said.
Like when Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc throughout Texas.
She put together a bunch of supplies to hand out to the victims of Harvey. But that wasn’t all she did.
She truly understands the meaning of “public servant.” She’s exactly the type of person that should be on the police force!
Cops are people, too. They have spouses, children, parents, and pets just like us. Just because someone’s a cop, that doesn’t mean they’re out to get you.
