But every now and then, something incredible happens and faith in humanity is restored. The story of Ben Millar shows how one act of kindness can completely change another person’s life.Ben Millar has always been very friendly towards his customers. He would often strike a conversation with them because he simply enjoys the social aspects of his job. After years of being a chatty Katy, Ben ended up talking to one of his customers who was carefully listening to every word he said. This customer would end up changing his life for the better.
Jeffery is a customer that often visits Ireland with this family which happens to be Ben’s home country. The family seemed to be really moved by Ben’s story and left him a $750 tip on a $122.87 tab with a heart-touching message.
During their conversation, Ben mentioned that it had been two years since he’s been home and how much he’d love to go back. Ben recalled, “I jokingly said, ‘I wish I could go back that often to see my family.’ I thought nothing of it, and we all joked afterwards. The night went on, and I proceeded to give good service and talk to them.”
Taryn Keith, Ben’s partner, is expecting their first child. The waiter broke the news to Taryn about the massive tip he’d gotten at the restaurant. Excited as she was, she took to social media to post the note on her Facebook page. She wanted to find the family and thank them for their generosity. Taryn has been using this kind act as a way to spread the love.
The soon-to-be father is very excited for the arrival of his baby boy and wants to introduce him and his girlfriend to his family in Belfast, Ireland. The baby is due January 2017 and cannot wait to welcome the baby boy into their lives.
Appreciating the gesture, Ben said, “It means a lot to me, but more to my family back home who will benefit from seeing me again since almost two years. And I would love it if Jeffrey could come over when I go back, so I can show him the true Northern Ireland, not just the tourist aspect.”
Taryn wrote, “Thought I would share it to show everyone that there is not only hate out there. Truly blessed.” Even though the world is getting scarier, and the media is full of negative stories swarming around, these kinds of incredible gestures help us restore our faith in humanity.
