Typically when a person dines in at a restaurant, he or she is expected to pay a tip additional to the bill. How much a person tips usually depends on how much the overall bill was and whether or not they received good service. Although this may be considered the standard, it’s not followed by everyone. Tipping, although customary, is still optional. It’s not required, therefore it leaves the customer with the ultimate choice to do whatever he or she wants. One particular waitress, however, was extremely angry after a customer left her a small tip on a big bill. She went to Facebook to rant about the topic which created a big debate on the matter.And if you decided to tip, how much should you tip? This is one of the more controversial topics in food service today.

It’s a debatable topic where a lot of people agree that tip isn’t necessary while others believe it’s rude not to.

However, not everyone thinks the same. Some may believe all service is the same, meaning it deserves the same amount of tip every time. Others may believe that leaving no tip at all is fine, no matter what the service.

However, in some restaurants, employers do take advantage of the fact that their waiters will get tipped to pay them an even smaller wage.

In countries outside of the U.S., restaurants refuse to receive tips entirely. In some situations, they’ll even go out of their way to return the tip you gave them.

He tipped a whopping $5 on a $105 meal. That’s only a 4% tip! As for the waitress, she was not pleased to say the least.

Although she ended up getting a lot of attention from her post, it received a lot of mixed reactions. Read the entire rant in the photo below.

Some people agree with her and think she’s right in her argument. Others, however, think the complete opposite.

They claim that the decision to tip overall shouldn’t be based on the payer’s intention.

They took the matter as a serious offense, believing that it’s wrong to not properly tip good service based on how much the bill cost.

According to him, if you can’t afford to tip, you shouldn’t dine outside of your home.

Atkinson made a point that situations like this are bound to happen from time to time and that it’s better to just learn how to accept and live with it.

Miles believes that you can’t expect high tip from everyone because not everyone can afford it.

It’s a question that is up to the paying customer to answer. Does the customer think that the waiter’s service and time is worth tipping?

At the end of the day, how you spend your money is ultimately up to you — that includes adding tip to a service.

When they dine in, customers feel the pressure and obligation to provide a tip.

Some restaurants offer a small hourly wage, making the servers depend mostly on the tips they receive.

This is why tip is so important to food servers. A extra few bucks from a customer can go a long way for a server.

If the customers that come in are served politely and given delicious food, they’ll usually leave a generous tip.
