That’s right: Grantville, Georgia, otherwise known as the ghost town in AMC’s hit television series,The Walking Dead, is up for sale. The seller doesn’t mention anything about zombies, but just looking at the town, you kind of have to assume there’s at least one in there.
The show decided to use Grantville because it had the perfect amount of ghostly mystique, complete with abandoned, torn-down buildings that give you the impression that something has gone very, very wrong.
The little town has struggled over the years, especially its primary cotton mill closed in 1991. Now, Grantville only has about 1,309 residents, making it the perfect low-key location for post-apocalyptic filming.
The buildings are being sold by the mayor, who owns the majority of the town’s commercial property. The 9 buildings in the listing include a pizza place, an apartment building, bars, and offices.
For those that have the scratch, owning this town would be like having the ultimate piece of Walking Dead fan merchandise.
